Everyone should have the same access to education, yet so many people are unable to pursue learning due to personal and societal barriers. We want to change this and ensure everyone can access learning opportunities and unlock their potential. That’s why from 9am on Thursday 7th July until 9pm on Friday 8th July we will be holding a Giving Day – 36 hours to rewrite futures and transform lives.
You can help by becoming a Futuremaker. Futuremakers can organise a fundraising event or take part in a challenge and raise money for our life-changing Open Futures Fund.
Here are our top tips for being a Futuremaker:
Think about what interests you.
Are you a keen runner and do you like a physical challenge? If so, perhaps there’s a 5k run or triathlon you could sign up to... Maybe you like baking and want to get your colleagues involved; why not organise a bake sale at your office?
Utilise your skills.
If you’re artistic, perhaps you could organise a donations-based workshop where you invite people to take part in an activity, such as still life drawing or wreath-making. Think about the time of year. Could your workshop or event be themed according to the season’s festivities.
Be imaginative!
As our past Futuremakers have shown, there are no limits when it comes to what activity you choose to do.
What our Futuremakers say...
“For my activity, I applied skills from my master’s degree, along with my huge passion for the natural environment to perform a walking taxonomy lesson. I picked something I thought I was good at, and other people might enjoy. It was so fun, I saw lots and learnt plenty too. I have plans to do this again next year, with at least one zoologist and a handful of other fantastic ecologists I am friends with!”
