Careers: A helping hand to navigate your future

You worked hard for your qualification. Now the OU’s Careers and Employability Services are here to help you make it work for you. For three years after you qualify, you’ll have access to all of our services, including one-to-one guidance, career learning and employer events. After that, you’ll still have access to a wide range of useful careers advice and resources on the OU Careers website.

Discover your future

If your goals have changed since the start of your OU journey or you have no idea how to apply your qualification to a change of direction, Your Career Planning Guide is the place to begin. Our page ‘Choosing a career that suits you’ picks out activities in the guide to help you find options most suited to you, your skills, values and passions.

Navigate the job market

Browse job roles, employers, events, internships and voluntary opportunities or book an individual careers consultation on the OU’s exclusive careers platform OpportunityHub. If you have a career in mind but you’re not sure how to get there, try our ‘How do I become a ?’ page. Make sure you connect with employers in our events across the year including our OU Online TalentConnect careers fairs and virtual employer visits.

Smash that application

If you’re ready to start applying for roles, we can help you present your OU qualification and unique skills in ways that make employers take notice. The CVs, applications and interviews section of our website has everything you need, including creating a winning CV with our online CV builder. Look out for our live CV workshops and practice with our Interview Simulator.

You can do this. Whatever stage you’re at and whatever your background, the OU Careers and Employability Services can help you to plan and build your future. Just bring yourself.
